Walking Trails

We have created a guide to 4 of our favourite walks through the hotel grounds. Varying from gentle garden strolls to more serious up to 2 hours long, the walks are suitable for most levels of fitness and only sensible shoes and clothing are required.

Woodland Avenue

Beginning by the formal Pleasure Gardens, this gentle 20 minute walk takes you through the tree lined avenue. The closely planted trees create a tunnel, where light and shadows play creating a magical feel. You may be lucky enough to spot The Champion of the Fairy Ring, a small mushroom which grows in circles and according to folklore are used as place for political debate by the elves!

Devils Corner Walk

This beautifully walk is the perfect way to visit each of the landscapes contained within the estate. Down through the avenue, passing the meadow golf course and into the woods. This part of the walk is especially stunning when the Rhododendrons are in full bloom between April and May. Watch the sunlight sparkle on the lake and the delicate wetland plants perfume the air. The path leads you into picturesque Virginia.

Boat House Walk

Through the woodlands and down to the shoreline, you will discover why the Marquis and his family fell in love with Lough Ramor.

Well Walk

The longest walk is also one of the most rewarding and perfect for an afternoon. Taking in many of the estates unique features including the Ice Pit, stone bridge and St Patricks Well.
